Bettersizer 2600E — Laser Diffraction System and Dispersion Units

92 Detectors, 0.016°–165° Angular Range

Two patented laser sources drive a Fourier and Reverse Fourier optical design. 92 photodetectors collect scattered light simultaneously across forward, side, and back angles — delivering accurate single-pass measurement from the nano to the millimeter scale.

📡
Wide-Angle Scatter Detection
92 detectors spanning 0.016° to 165° precisely capture peaks in both narrow and broad size distributions.
🧠
Smart Refractive Index Calculation
Calculates refractive index for samples with unknown optical properties; validates against known references for real-time size distribution.
🔍
High Resolution
Resolves distinct size populations in mixed samples in a single run. Captures instantaneous changes in the measurement curve.

Oversized Particle Detection
Detects oversized particles, agglomerates, and air bubbles hidden within a sample at high sensitivity.

What You Wonder About

Laser diffraction (LD) covers 0.1–1,600 µm. With the PIC-1 dynamic imaging module, the upper range extends from 2.0 µm to 3,500 µm. Total capacity is 0.1–3,500 µm. Both wet and dry dispersion options apply across the full range.

PIC-1 is the dynamic imaging module that extends the laser diffraction upper limit from 1,600 µm to 3,500 µm. Its dual high-speed cameras record real-time images of particles as they pass through the sample cell, computing 24 shape parameters including circularity, convexity, and sphericity. It operates simultaneously with laser diffraction or independently.

Wet dispersion options include BT-802 (automatic, aqueous), BT-80N / BT-80N Pro (corrosion-resistant, organic solvents), and BT-804 (small volume). Dry dispersion options include BT-902 (automatic, standard powders) and BT-903 (down to 20 mg samples). All unit transitions are performed via software.

The Bettersizer 2600E complies with ISO 13320 for laser diffraction and ISO 13322-2 for dynamic image analysis. The software automatically generates reports conforming to both standards.

The 2600E covers 0.1–1,600 µm with laser diffraction and delivers high-accuracy particle size and shape analysis. The 2600 Plus is the upper-tier instrument with a wider LD range (down to 0.02 µm) and more advanced software capabilities. Both instruments support the optional PIC-1 dynamic imaging module.

For samples with unknown optical properties, the software derives the refractive index from experimental scattering data or validates it against reference values. Based on Mie scattering theory, this function improves accuracy particularly in the sub-micron range.
